BENSON PLANT RESCUE

was founded in 1999 by Dr. D & his wife Judith, as an offshoot of Charlotte Hauser’s Benson Garden Walk with the avowed purpose of rescuing, re-habilitating, & recycling all types of plants & flowers. While BPR initially rescued mainly from the ‘Big Box’ stores, it now also recycles plants from local nurseries as well as from area gardeners thinning or changing their gardens

Perennials, grasses, roses, trees, & houseplants are sold off at very reasonable prices with proceeds going to the Omaha Public Library, Charlotte’s favorite charity, for the purchase of children’s books & computers. To date over $30,000 has been donated. Additionally, all rescued annual flowers & vegetables are given away free of charge, creating literally hundreds of thousands of small points of beauty & nourishment throughout Omaha over the past 13 years.
